It is the Scout's responsibility to have all the requirements completed for rank advancement. Once the scout feels he has completed everything, he needs to request a scoutmaster conference with the Scoutmaster, who will meet with the scout and ask him to demonstrate his knowledge for his rank advancement requirements
The Scout must wear his full Class A uniform for the scoutmaster conference. If the Scoutmaster feels that the scout has completed the rank, the Scoutmaster will sign off in the scout's book. The scout is then ready for a Board of Review.

The Board of Review is an interview of the Scout with 2 to 3 adult leaders who ask him questions about the requirements he has completed for the desired rank. If they are satisfied that the Scout knows everything that has been signed off, then the Scout will be awarded that rank. The adult leaders will sign the Scout's book. It is the Scout's responsibility to turn in the signed book into the advancement chairperson. the rank advancement and wmblem will be presented at the next Court of Honor.
Troop 483 holds a Court of Honor three or four times a year to present all the rank advancements and merit badges that have been earned by the scouts since the last Court of Honor. All merit badge and rank advancement cards should be turned into the Advancement Chairperson at least two weeks prior to the scheduled Court of Honor. It is the Scout's responsibility to turn in the cards. No award will be presented without the proper paperwork.
Earning badges does not become required for rank advancement until after First Class. This does not mean that a scout can not earn badges prior to that. Badges may be earned by any scouts under the age of 18. Any merit badge earned automatically records for the rank advancement where is is needed.
