Camping

Tent

Troop 483 schedules camp-outs or other activities monthly during the year. Scouts are strongly encouraged to attend these regularly as camping is the method used to accomplish many of the goals of scouting. Camping provides the boys with an oppotunity to learn how to work together, learn new skills, and achieve badges and rank advancement.

Normally, the Troop departs from Stilwell Baptist Church on Saturday mornings and return by noon on Sunday. All parents are always invited and encouraged to attend, but Scouts are not required to have a parent accompany them on each camp-out.

Camping Equipment

In addition to the uniform, scouts will need the following items

Troop Equipment

Troop 483 supplies tents, tarps, stoves, coolers and large water containers on each campout. Each Patrol has a camp box that contains pots/pans and cooking utensils. Each Patrol is responsible for the care, clean-up and maintenance of these items. Scouts are responsible for the care, clean-up and drying of tents used on campouts. Tents will (as required) be sent home with the Scout to dry and clean following the campout. The tent should be returned by the next meeting.
